Field Sketching and Observation with Robin Lee Carlson

April 19, 2023 | 12:00 pm

Who says you have to be in person to learn about nature? This April, virtually join Field Sketching and Observation with Robin Lee Carlson, author of The Cold Canyon Fire Journals.

Robin is a devoted field sketcher who uses her sketchbook to understand the world around her and document the impacts of climate change. Field sketching is essential for communicating what she learns with others. In this live demo, we will explore techniques Robin uses to get acquainted with places, especially those she studies over time. Robin will share how she translates experiences into sketchbook pages that invite viewers into an ecosystem full of diverse flora and fauna.

Join along as Robin leads us in sketching inkcap mushrooms with silvery blue butterflies and a miniature lupine, one of their host plants. We hope to see you there!
