Why to the Rocks poetry anthology virtual reading at Beers Books

Please join us the Community of Writers as they partner with Beers Books and Random Lane Summer Poetry Reading Series for a poetry reading to celebrate Why to These Rocks: 50 Years of Poetry from the Community of Writers.

This reading is dedicated to the memory of Al Young former California Poetry Laureate, and long-time CW Board Member and Workshop Leader.

featuring readings from:

with a special appearance by Al Young’s son Michael Young, who will read Al’s poem from the anthology; and colleague Ray Tatar who will remember Al.

Lisa Alvarez

Lisa Alvarez is a professor of English at Irvine Valley College. Her poetry and prose has appeared in numerous literary journals. Alvarez coedited Writer’s Workshop in a Book: The Community of Writers on the Art of Fiction with Alan Cheuse and Orange County: A Literary Field Guide with Andrew Tonkovich. She codirects the annual Community of Writers summer conference in Olympic Valley, California, and lives in Modjeska Canyon.
