ALL POWER TO THE IMAGINATION: Troublemakers of the Bay Area and Beyond from the ’60s to the Present.

What was it about the San Francisco Bay Area that attracted so many oddballs and mischief makers in art, politics, film, journalism, and literature? What, if anything, has been their enduring legacy? Join counterculture historian Pat Thomas and Heyday publisher Steve Wasserman in discussion about the dreams and hopes of a defining era whose radioactive essence still glows.

From the pages of Evergreen Review magazine, Thomas has compiled an anthology of rare writings from the 60s and 70s by Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Amiri Baraka, Eldrige Cleaver, Tim Leary, Dennis Hopper, Jean Genet, Jerry Rubin, Germaine Greer and others; Wasserman’s recent memoir—Tell Me Something, Tell Me Anything, Even If It’s a Lie—recounts his extraordinay relationships with the likes of Susan Sontag, Gore Vidal, Bobby Seale, Barbara Streisand, Christopher Hitchens, Orson Welles, Tom Hayden, and Daniel Ellsberg. Copies of both authors’ books are available for pre-purchase with your reservation.
