Robin Lee Carlson at Henry Miller Memorial Library

August 14, 2022 | 1:00 pm 5:00 pm

Join Robin Lee Carlson as she discusses her debut book, The Cold Canyon Fire Journals.

When the nature reserve at Cold Canyon in Northern California went up in flames in 2015 and again in 2020, Robin Lee Carlson embarked on a five-year journey to learn the legacy of the burn. What she saw challenged prevailing assumptions about the destructive impact of wildfire. Her book—which includes her beautiful illustrations focusing on the details of plant, animal, and fungi responses to fires—opens our eyes to see that beneath the burn and beyond our despair lies another story.

There will be coffee and tea. The discussion begins at 1 pm, so feel free to bring a lunch.
