A nonfiction book proposal is often the first major step toward the successful publication of your book. It is much more than a synopsis of your work — it is a 30-40 page business plan and showcase for your manuscript. The proposal is your primary opportunity to make your case to editors and publishers as to why your book should be published, what constitutes its potential market, and why you are the perfect person to write it.
This workshop will take you through the steps needed to create a quality nonfiction book proposal and will provide some helpful hints to maximize the proposal’s success.
Gary is the author of seven published nonfiction books, including Sierra Stories: Tales of Dreamers, Schemers, Bigots, and Rogues (Heyday and Sierra College Press, 2014), which was the recipient of the National Gold Medal for Best Regional History from the Next Generation Indie Books Awards.
